Have you ever gotten on one of those "Fertility Blogs"? Or maybe you joined one of those groups on Facebook and after scrolling you're like w.t.f does PUPO mean?? Okay well here is a little quick read on some "Infertility Lingo" you might hear.

For starters...

IVF: In-vitro fertilization: a medical procedure whereby an egg is fertilized by sperm in a test tube or elsewhere outside the body.

IUI: Intra-uterine insemination: fertility treatment that involves placing sperm inside a woman's uterus close to the fallopian tubes in order to increase the chances of conceiving.

PUPO: Pregnant until proven otherwise: A lot of women will use this after they have a transfer. You are pregnant until your blood test says otherwise.

BETA: This is your pregnancy blood test you take after pregnancy.

PIO: Progesterone in Oil: These are those bigggggg shots you often times see/hear when it comes to IVF.

HSG: Hysterosalpingogram: imaging test that is used to examine the cavity of the uterus and Fallopian tubes.

DPT: Days Past Transfer: How many days they are past their transfer date.

DPO: Days Passt Ovulation: How many days they are past their ovulation.

ER: Egg Retrieval: technique used in in vitro fertilization in order to remove oocytes from the ovary of a woman.

PCOS: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges.

Endo: Endometriosis: A disorder in which tissue that normally lines the uterus grows outside the uterus

US: Ultrasound

These are the basic ones you'll see BUT the good news is with me?? I can help you Decode all of these crazy words to ease your mind and help YOU feel more confident when speaking about your own cycle.

P.S. Curious why you see pineapples a lot on boards or in the "infertility" world? Pineapples are a sign of good luck! Did you know that "pineapple core" is also sometimes eaten by women after transfer to help baby stick?? ;)
